Jackson Rathbone’s birth name is actually Monroe Jackson Rathbone. He was born December 21, 1984 in Singapore. His parents are Randee Lynn and Monroe Jackson Rathbone. Monroe Jackson Rathbone is his great grandfather was the chairman of Exxon Oil in New Jersey.
Jackson’s father had a job with Mobile Oil which had the family traveling around a lot. He has lived in Indonesia and Midland, Texas. In Midland, Texas is where he showed an interest in acting and joined the local youth actors program The Pickwick Players. He started out doing musical theater first.
In his junior and senior year of high school, Jackson started attending the Interlochen Arts Academy. It is a private school that specializes in the arts and is in Michigan. Jackson majored in acting and after he graduated, he had planned on attending the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland. Instead, he chose to move to Los Angeles and try and make it into the big screen.
Jackson was only in Los Angeles a little bit before he was cast in Disney 411. This showed allowed him to interview stars like Hilary Duff. In 2005, he had small roles in A Rivers End and Close to Home. In 2006, he was in Pray for Morning, The O.C. and Beautiful People. In 2007, Jackson seemed to be getting more roles and he was in The Valley of Light, The War at Home and Big Stan.
2008 became a big year when he was cast as Jasper Hale in the hugely popular Twilight series. The first movie Twilight really put him on the map. Soon, he was in many more films such as Senior Skip Day, Hurt and Young Again He was also in an episode of The Cleaner.
In 2009, he was in the Twilight sequel New Moon which came out in November and once again was a world-wide hit. With his name getting out there, Jackson was also able to have roles in the following films: S. Darko, Dread and an episode of Criminal Minds.
2010 is another great year for Jackson. The third installment of the Twilight Saga, Eclipse, lets him reclaim his role as Jasper Hale. He is also in a film by M. Night Shyamalan called The Last Airbender, as well as a dramedy, musical, romance called DaZe: Vol. Too (sic) – NonSeNse, and the drama Girlfriend.
Jackson loves music and has a band called 100 Monkeys which he started with his two from his high school. They have released 3 albums and in December 2009, they began a 100 U.S. city tour that will end in mid 2010.
